Yashraj Films ‘Tara Rum Pum’ hit the silver screens this Friday, and as expected, it turned out to be a master piece. The movie is packed with all the necessary ingredients that makes any flick successful- content, performance, dialogues, lyrics, location, music, background score, cinematography….and everything else that you can think of. The movie, which banks on speed, goes slow as far as the time factor is concerned- it is a little longer than two and a half hours, but the junta is not complaining.
Saif Ali Khan seems to grow with his films and bettering his performance with every role. He has carried this role with great élan and I am sure he is amassing a huge fan following. That cinema means serious business is showed by this mature actor. As a husband and an adoring father, Saif performs with sang-froid. His comic timing is also to be lauded…in short; he can now safely be bracketed among the league of SUPERSTARS. I am sure that this dude has a long way to go, as after his marvelous performances, producers can rope him without any second though, and bank upon him, not only commercially, but also talent-wise.
Javed Jaffrey can also be seen in the film. He was last scene with Saif only in ‘Salaam Namastey’, and incidentally, it was also directed by Siddharth Anand. As usual, his ace comedy has to be lauded- “My brother from another mother”, and “when anyone fails in life in the US they become taxi drivers,” evokes rounds of applause from the audience. Every time he comes on screen, there is an air of anticipation for another round of laughter.
As far as Rani Mukherjee is concerned, she is the most versatile actress in Bollywood. She dances with grace and emotes with ease. She can make you laugh with her, and at the drop of a hat, she can make you drop tears. Her performance in the movie is above excellent and I think there could be no other actress who could have carried out this role with such beauty.
It is very difficult to make movies with any sport in it…but the way Binod Pradhan’s cinematography on the race track as well as his low camera angles which brings to life New York’s high-rises, is worthy to be praised.
The movie is packed with everything- from speed to emotions, from drama to songs. And moreover, the hit jori of ‘Hum Tum’ fame are back together to create vibes on the silver screen once again. What more can you ask for from any film?
Go sing, TARA RUM PUM!!
