Simple yet effective, a neatly crafted film that is sure to win appreciation. It seems that Nair has spun a yarn without any loop holes.
‘Ahista Ahista’ hit the screens on Friday and has drawn in a lot of crowd. The whiff-of-fresh-breeze stars like Abhay Deol and Soha Ali Khan lend a splendiferous charm to the movie.
A notable work of cinema, ‘Ahista Ahista’ is the story of Ankush (Abhay Deol), who is a self-appointed Professional Witness to prolific marriages conducted at the Marriage Registration Centre in Old Delhi. He charges a mere Rs 200/ for setting the life of blissful couples.
He happens to meet Megha (Soha Ali Khan) in the registration office, who had eloped to get married to her love Dheeraj (Shyan Munshi). However, Dheeraj never turns up and Ankush couldn’t offer his services to the pretty girl from Nainital. Looking at the pretty innocent face of Megha, he decides to help her out of the distressing situation.
Ankush helps find a roof for Megha and also gets her a job in an old age home. As time passes by, Megha realizes that there's more to life than her boyfriend. Simultaneously, Ankush realizes that the Rs. 10,000 loan he had taken for Megha's sake was sitting heavy on him. Soon Ankush finds that he has changed because of Megha and the faith that she shows in him.
Gradually the two fall in love with each other and Megha decides to embrace her future with Ankush. When everything seems to be going smooth for the two of them, Dheeraj returns. That is the time when the whole world crumbles for Ankush.
A rib tickler and a sedate storyline, the situations in the film seem straight out of life and just when you thought that the film would charter the routine path, the twist in the story takes you by surprise.
As far as the acting is concerned, Abhay Deol is a complete natural. His boy-next-door looks make the character more believable, more convincing. Soha is looking pretty as ever in her simple yet charming looks. The petite actress is only getting better with every film. The hot hot hot Shyan Munshi looks great as usual and is competent in the small role.
The music by Himesh is soft and easy on the ears, but the songs look like a forced ingredient. Cinematography by Prakash Kutty is superb.
Nice 'n' slow yet fluently absorbing, ‘Ahista Ahista’ is a must watch. So, what’s stopping you from getting that first look!
