Tata Docomo launched in Punjab
Tata Teleservices (TTSL) has launched its new GSM mobile service with the brand name TATA DOCOMO in the Punjab telecom circle on Nov. 4.
The telecom company has introduced a variety of innovative products and services to attract maximum consumer base in the state.
The operator also unleashed its “Pay-for-what-you-use” model, which will offer a call rate of just 1 paisa per second. The prepaid pack costs Rs. 49 and offers lifetime validity and zero talk time.
With five existing operators including Vodafone, Airtel, Idea Cellular, BSNL and Reliance GSM, TATA DOCOMO will be the 6th GSM Mobile service operator in the Punjab telecom circle.
Metal and mining major Vedanta revives power project in Punjab
In what appears to be a lucrative deal for the state, a globally diversified and integrated metals and mining group, Vedanta Resources, has decided to revive its Rs 10,000 crore independent power project in Punjab.
"We have taken a decision to revive the 1980 MW Talwandi Sabu project in Punjab. We will soon take a call on reviving 1980 MW power project planned in Orissa," Vedanta Resources Vice Chairman Naveen Agarwal said.
The project had been put on hold last year in the wake of a global slump in the metal prices by almost 50 percent.
Presently, Sterlite Energy, a subsidiary of Vedanta group is supporting the global leader in undertaking its commercial and captive power projects in India.
Punjab’s telecom and power industry are expected to get a boost with a GSM service launched in the region, and the revival of a heavy investment power project in the state.
