The Central Government prepared an event for the roll out of the vaccine for Covid-19 across the country. A dry run has been planned in 4 states – Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, and Punjab. Government of India has chosen Punjab to conduct the dry run for COVID19 vaccine at five sites each in Ludhiana & Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar districts, says State Info & Public Relations Department, Punjab. The two-day activity was scheduled to take place on December 28-29, 2020.
“Today we will be having the dry run for the COVID-19 vaccine in both urban and rural areas,” civil surgeon in the Punjab-based Ludhiana district, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Bagga, told Arab News.
Seven booths have been set up in the district and each booth will vaccinate 25 people. “It would be just a dummy vaccine. Once a person is given a vaccine, he will be given some key messages — such as what to observe, where to inform. We will give the person a rapid response number so that he can talk to them in case of any side-effects,” Bagga said.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that detailed training parts had been developed for different categories of vaccine handlers and administrators including medical officers, vaccinators, alternate vaccinators, cold chain handlers, supervisors, data managers, ASHA coordinators and others involved in the implementation process at various different levels.
The training includes based on aspects such as organising vaccination sessions, use of the Co-WIN IT platform, cold chain preparedness, managing adverse events, communication, biomedical waste management, and infection prevention protocols.
