The stage is all set in the picturesque hill town of Dharamshala where India takes on Australia in the last test match of the ongoing India Australia test series. With the series tied 1-1, there is all to play for.
The Australian team is unchanged while India has made a couple of changes. Kuldeep Yadav comes in for injured Virat Kohli while Bhuvneshwar Kumar replaces Ishant Sharma.
“He had said in the press that he will only play if he’s 100 percent fit, that has not been the case. So unfortunately he missed out,” Sanjay Bangar, India’s batting coach Sanjay Bangar said at the press conference at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium.
In the absence of Virat Kohli, Ajinka Rahane will lead the Indian squad. Big match Player Virat had injured his shoulder in the match at Ranchi. Virat not in the playing eleven may be a psychological blow.
In reality, the mainstay of Indian batting in recent years has been terribly out of form. Virat has managed only 46 runs in the five innings of the ongoing series.
In the pre match conference, Steve Smith complimented Rahane’s leadership skills. Kohli too expressed confidence that the team will do well in his absence.
Meanwhile, the Australia team visited Dalai Lama ahead of the match.
“I asked him a question on sleep and how he could help me. He gave me his blessings. We rubbed our noses together and blessed me. Hopefully I can sleep well over the next five days,” Smith said of the meeting.
The Australian captain said that the meeting with Dalai Lama had left the team more relaxed.
