India continue their strong reply against Australia on the 3rd Day morning session of the 3rd test match being played between the two countries in Ranchi.
KL Rahul (67) and unbeaten Murali Vijay had laid a strong foundation with an opening wicket stand of 91 runs. Murali Vijay and C. Pujara continued the good work and had taken India to 191 without any further loss of wicket. The two would like to bat out the few overs left before lunch.
The Indian batsmen were very slow to start with and scored merely 24 runs in the first 16 overs. To an extent the caution is understandable as the home team will not like to concede any lead to Austrlia in this crucial encounter.
The Australian bowling would be a tad more tired during the next few sessions when India would like to milk the bowling. The good news for India is that Virat Kohli who injured his shoulder while fielding is fit to bat again.
Steve Smith played a masterly knock to propel Australia to 451. Maxwell too played well and made a meaningful contribution of 104.
The match is still in the balance. India may well feel that they have a slight edge with Pujara and Vijay batting well and a host of batsmen to follow. The wicket will do a little more during the last two days. India would like to take a handsome lead. Ideally they would not want to bat again. Let’s wait and watch to see which way the wind blows.
