In December, PM Narendra Modi had announced that Japanese citizens would be permitted entry to India and they would get their ‘visa on arrival’ stamp in India, but at the moment it’s only the business community from the country who will be granted access in this manner. The South Koreans may also be included in this facility, stated the officials, though the announcement remains to be sent. India may end up as a lucrative business proposition for these two countries with this permission, as this step was introduced because of the Government policy of ‘Make In India’.
Mr. Narendra Modi, this December had given his consent to Japan’s PM Shinzo Abe about liberalizing visa regulations for people of Japan. India has a list of about 113 countries that have been given permission for electronic tourist visa on arrival. Modi had recognized Japan’s earmarking of nearly 11-12 billion dollar funding for “Make in India” and has agreed to almost 3 firms from Japan to set up their business base in India.
Some designated airports have been chosen for the job from March 1st, according to a senior official in the Government and he has stated “Not all categories of visa would be included in the scheme immediately. We have decided that to make the country investor-friendly, we will first extend the facility to business and conference visa seekers. Other categories like research and medical are not being included as of now.” This is going to a profitable business proposition for investments in India.
The official has confirmed that “A visa on arrival facility means that an applicant would not have to wait for days to travel to India. It will cut red tape and an applicant would be informed within three days through e-mail whether he or she can travel to a destination in India. The Indian Embassy has its own data and it will scan for suspicious travelers.” the moment the commerce investors are going to profit from this decision as they will not have to wait days before they get the permission to wade out on Indian waters.
Japan has already agreed to relax the visa regulations for Indians and is all geared up for a money-spinning travel agenda.
