Want to lose fat but gain muscle? People dream for the perfect diet and exercise routine to lose weight but yet, their dream of losing fat while gaining muscle had always seemed unattainable. But now, Live Punjab has come up with new research from McMaster University who says it’s possible but ‘gruelling’ or not for everyone.
Researchers took an experiment to ensure the study, they follow 40 young men who underwent a month of hard exercise and divided their subjects into two groups, one group ate low calorie food and one group ate low-calorie with high-protein food along with exercise. In result, the group who ate low calorie more protein lost weight overall and gained muscle.
Senior investigator on the study, Stuart Phillips, Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at McMaster said, “These guys were in rough shape, but that was part of the plan. We wanted to see how quickly we could get them into shape: lose some fat, but still retain their muscle and improve their strength and fitness”.
Talking about the study, scientists tells that they hope to conduct a follow-up on women as well.
In the next study, they decided to plan on using an approach that will be ‘a little easier and much more sustainable.
