Fun times ahead! Multiple entry Thai visa for six months for Indians

Now get ready for a weekend romp to Thailand! On November 13th, Indians are going to turn lucky from this month as the Thailand authorities have decided to introduce a new 6 month multiple entry tourist visa.

Thailand is all geared up for the launch of the new multiple visa entry for 6 months for Indians on November 13th. On Thursday, Tourist-visa-Thailandgave a press release stating, “The visa, costing Rs 10,000 (5,000 baht) will grant travelers multiple entries during a 6-month period, for up to 60 days per entry. All foreign nationals are eligible to apply for METV.”

Speculations regarding METV have been on for the last two three months and this added convenience has left the Indians super excited. Travel and trade options will widen and offer immense opportunities for the people of India.

The director of TAT Mumbai office, Soraya Homchuen, has said: “I expect that frequent travelers from India as well as Indian travel agents, will be very happy with the news of the METV. Of late, Thailand has gained popularity for weekend getaways, especially on long weekends, in addition to already being India’s favorite for family vacations and annual holidays. I am certain that the convenience of already having a visa in-hand will encourage more impromptu trips to Thailand.”

At the moment, Thailand permits tourist visas validity for only about 60 days. After the period expires, visitors have to get an extension from the immigration office. The METV will permit the travelers to come into the country and leave as many times as he or she wants in the six-month period. The visitor cannot stay in the country beyond 60 days say the new rules.

The Indian travelers need to have a financial bank of funds more than Rs 400,000 and they also need to have a stamp of 12-months’ validity on the passports and this needs to be shown to the authorities. For the METV to be permitted the traveler needs to visit Thailand two times, during the valid 6 month period and the application for the same has to be sent to the Royal Thai Consulate beforehand as there is no provision of the “on-arrival” stamp! Complete the visa form, pin all the valid documents and hand them over for the METV processing and after two days you can savor the Thai holiday in peace.
