The men behind this worthy effort are two Sikh youths, Bhupinder Singh and Harkeerat Singh, a student at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, who have created a television show based on spirituality which they have aptly named as ‘Seeking Sikhism’.
Through ‘Seeking Sikhism’, the duo wants to spread the message of universal love and compassion for all.
“We decided to start the show in order to spread the message of Sikhism to as many people as possible, and to educate viewers about the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Holy Scriptures of the Sikh religion,” states Bhupinder Singh.
“The majority of the religious teachings are taught in Punjabi and so second-and third- generation Sikh Canadians tend to have a harder time relating to their religion. I think it can cause a real disconnect, not only with their religion but with their culture as well. We noticed that a lot of Sikh youth are not aware of the beautiful message of Sikhism,” states Bhupinder Singh.
‘Seeking Sikhism’ is aimed to remove language barriers for the younger generation and strike a connection with the Sikh youth, as the show is in English.
