Australia, July 1: To attract large number of recruits from Indian as well as Arabic descent, the Australian army is introducing a number of changes in its uniform code. These include specially designed helmets that can be worn over turbans by Sikh men and head scarfs/burkas for the female army recruits.
New York, June 30: A rally was organized in front of City Hall on June 16 by Sikh Coalition and a number of New York City Council members. They were calling for an end to any such policy of Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) requiring Sikh employees to wear company’s logo on their turbans.
