The ruling combine of Shiromani Akali Dal and the Bhartiya Janta Party is taking many steps to prevent the main opposition party Congress and the People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) from winning over the influential NRIs of Punjab.

A retrospective art exhibition of late Sunirmal Chatterjee, showcasing 180 of his works, was inaugurated on the Teachers’ Day on Monday in Government College of Arts, Chandigarh, where hundreds of students and teachers gathered to remember the renowned art teacher.

Complaints continue to pour in against the Chandigarh-based immigration firm Healthyway Immigration from scores of youths duped by the company. Police said that it received some more complaints on Tuesday from some persons who had applied for a student visa through the company.
