Sun Kissed Skin

Bronzer is a great summer beauty product and can make your skin look sun-drenched even when it's protected with sunscreen. It is usually a lightly frosted, tinted powder that gives skin sheer, natural color effects and highlights.

It is considered ideal for enhancing a skin tone or to accent or strengthen a tan.

It can be skin-conditioning, long-wearing – and is formulated to provide a smooth and even application on all skin types.

However, there are some things to be kept in mind while choosing a bronzer.

There are many products that are flooding in the market at this time of year promising a gilded transformation, which the bronzer never quite delivers. In all its various incarnations, the final effect is either too matt and unnatural or too metallic and glittery.

'There is a trick to it,' says a senior make-up artist, 'Avoid those really metallic bronzers that can slide off the face. They can also accentuate fine lines.'

Crucially, you should always choose the one that matches your skin tone. That way, you won't come out looking a bit tangoed. You can opt for a peachy tone, and the ones with fair complexions should stick to the cooler shades.

The problem with the bronzers is that if you apply the product unevenly, your face looks... dirty. If you apply too much, it's not pretty either.

For that reason, try the formulas that go on easily, blend invisibly and give you a range of bronzing options, from the faintest hint to a full-on glow.

Another tip is to steer clear of big brushes, even though many bronzers come in large sizes. Experts says we should aim for 'intelligent bronzing' - and, no, that's not an oxymoron. 'It's about getting that sculpted look."

Focus on specific areas with a smaller brush, replicating where the sun would naturally tan you - temples, hairline, cheekbones and the nose.

So choose your bronzer ethically and believe me, you will get that perfect sculpted look.

It's not so hard to be dusky, after all..!!
