De-Germing Yourself

You can't see them, you cant hear them...But they are coming for you...They are in the air you breathe and the water you drink. There is a small biological war raging inside you even now. No place is too far for them, no distance too long. No, aliens can wait. I am talking about the smallest and the meanest killing machines suited for any kind of combat terrain. Germs is what they call themselves.
With a range of weaponry (common cold, teeth ailments, gum disease, even heart diseases etc.) they virtually seem invincible. But the good news is, less than one percent of these merciless warriors are capable of making us ill (ha ha!).
With a strong off immune system, we can ward off these microorganisms without much effort. Children prove to be a heaven for them with their ‘moisturized’ noses and faces acting like a perfect place for them to multiply. What’s more, children everyday go to crèches, schools and meet their peers who readily share their germs.
Rather keeping your children out of day cares or preschool, you should ensure that doorknobs, desks, toys, telephones and counters are disinfected every few days with disinfectants.
Another workplace for these bacteria are public phones. You are paying for the call and not the cold or influenza you get as change. Since making a call can sometimes be unavoidable all you can do is to hold the receiver with a tissue or handkerchief and keep the mouthpiece a fair distance from your mouth. How can public washrooms stay behind? But the danger lurks where it is the most unexpected. Since there is almost zero or no contact with the urinals (in case of men only), the hazard-prone areas are the hand-blowers and the taps.
Find solace in swimming after a day’s work? Well mind you, even bacteria are good swimmers. ‘Hydro-germs’ may cause intestinal, skin, ear and upper respiratory infections. Chlorinating and changing the water is about all that you can do in this regard. Good sanitation is a must. Fighting an invisible enemy may be prove to be a little difficult but a sound surrounding with plenty of fresh air and animal life is just what you need.
