UK graduates likely to seek jobs in US, OZ and Canada - Survey
With just 20 percent of the total graduates in the West Midlands willing to begin their career in their home country, the nation is likely to face increased skills shortage, warned John Lamb, official spokesperson for Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. “This is a real concern for businesses because losing those skills is an enormous drain on the area,” Lamb stated.
Those planning to move outside their country look to either get an Australia visa or wish to move to any other English-speaking nation.
An interesting development likely to take place from this increasing trend of brain drain is a sudden demand for holders of UK work visa to work in IT, health care and engineering industries.
The reason for increasing trend of UK graduates looking for move off shores like Australia and Canada is that these countries provide working holiday visas to immigrants seeking employment. The usual period of such work visas is usually a year.
No wonder, many young brains are quick to cash in on such offers and obtain valuable work experience which proves to be of immense help in their professional life.
