As per the latest reports, the curfew has been re-imposed in the south area of Kashmir, Anantnag, where a group of youths marched towards the streets of Lal Chowk and Sherpora areas of the town.

After nine days of violence and killings in J&K state, the curfew has finally been lifted in Srinagar and other towns in the Kashmir Valley, including the seven police station areas which were under curfew.

"We have lifted the restrictions completely from city and Sopore in north Kashmir," a police official confirmed.

Protest by the youth
The police gave relaxation in curfew for two hours in the morning when the mob started throwing stones on the security people.

The protesters were demanding immediate arrest of security personnel who were responsible for the killing of three youths in the town.

The security forces resorted to ‘lathicharge’ and fired several times in open air to disperse the group.

At least 11 people have been killed in the Kashmir Valley in the firing by security forces on stone-pelting mobs protesting against alleged human rights violations.

Apart from uptown areas of Srinagar, curfew continued in Baramulla, Mattan, Bijbehara, Dooru, Kokernag, Achhabal in Anantnag, Qaimoh in Kulgam and Pulwama districts.

Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission postponed exams scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. "The examinations and screening tests scheduled for July 3 and July 4 have been postponed," the commission said.
