The theft took place around 4:30 a.m. at the home of Amarjeet Singh, 57, a resident of East of Kailash in Delhi, who lives on the second floor of the house. The other occupants--his son Kanwar Singh, 37, daughter-in-law and grandson--were on the first floor who were sleeping at the time of the robbery.
"The assailants used a `Kirpan' to threaten the family. It is, however, yet to be ascertained whether they had brought it themselves or had picked it up from the house. They misbehaved with the family and asked them to hand over the almirah keys,” said a senior police officer from the forensics team who visited the house.
He further added, "The robbers came in from the rear entrance of the house — most probably from the maid servant's room after making an entry through the balcony.
“They knew exactly in which room Singh's son and daughter-in-law stayed. They escaped in the same manner as they entered. An insider's hand is suspected ".
Two servants staying in the servant quarter are being questioned in this regard. The Amar Colony police refused to share any information.
A similar case of burglary was reported from the East of Kailash residence of an ex-mayor of Palwal about two months ago, but no one has been arrested so far.
A case of robbery has been registered at the Amar colony police station, and further investigations are going on.
