Punjab Govt. sanctions 336 mega projects

<strong>Chandigarh, August 11:</strong> With a private investment of Rs. 97.163 crore, the Punjab government has given an approval to 336 mega projects to enhance industrial development in the state.

Chandigarh, August 11: With a private investment of Rs. 97.163 crore, the Punjab government has given an approval to 336 mega projects to enhance industrial development in the state.

These projects would involve setting up of medium and small scale industries in the region.

With this initiative, the state government seeks to create employment opportunities for more than 12 lakh people.

Manoranjan Kalia, Industry and Commerce minister for the state government, informed that 20 clusters for both small and medium enterprises were proposed to be set up in the region.

He also informed that the centre has approved the setting up of four Textile Parks, Foundry and Machine tools cluster at Batala.

In a bid to improve the educational facilities in the state, two centers of Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) had been opened at Ludhiana and Jalandhar respectively.

Kalia also said that an amount of Rs. 25 crore will be spent for the up-gradation of all the industrial centers in the state.
