Punjab government to provide Rs 1 crore aid to Leh flood victims
During his visit, Sukhbir Singh Badal said, “There has been a natural calamity in Leh which has resulted in loss of many precious lives and devastation to the infrastructure. The Punjab government will provide Rs1 crore relief for the rehabilitation of the victims.”
He also met J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with a delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal MP's and MLA's and announced to adopt a Leh village.
"Whatever the cost of restoring the infrastructure will be borne by Punjab government," the SAD chief said.
A 9-year-old girl, who has lost her entire family in the flash floods, was also adopted by Badal. He also gave 11 trucks of relief material to Tsering Dorje, chief executive Councilor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council in Leh.
Badal also declared that a cash grant of RS 5 lakh would be provided for the restoration of the Gurudwara Sri Pathar Sahib.
He also met Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzing Jora and offered him full support of the Punjab government.
Badal ended his visit by paying homage at the Gurudwara Pathar Sahib.
