Online reservation in AC buses launched in Punjab
Punjab is the first state in North to initiate this online service. People residing anywhere in the country can book the tickets online at www.busindia.com.
Initially, these services are being provided only for air-conditioned buses and later on, it will be extended to the long route buses and on inter-state routes within the next three months.
The online reservation project is being implemented by Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), Pune, a premiere organization of the government of India.
The online reservation facility will be available from Chandigarh-Jalandhar-Ludhiana-Amritsar and Pathankot bus stands, and will be soon extended to the Delhi bus stand.
Master Mohan Lal revealed, “PUNBUS is in the process of signing an agreement with Delhi International Airport Ltd.(DIAL) after which buses will start plying from the International Airport New Delhi and this facility will be available for the passengers of this bus service even from international locations.
The first super integral bus of the Department (Volvo) has already started operating on the Amritsar- International Airport. 11 more super integral buses will be introduced within 3 months.
GPS is being installed in 130 buses in the first phase and after its successful implementation it will be introduced in more than 1000 buses operating in PUNBUS. 49 new HVAC Buses and 100 ordinary buses are being introduced in PUNBUS and will be on route by December 2010.”
