New Zealand, July 8: After a series of racial attacks on Indian students in Australia, New Zealand is making efforts to cajole them.

The government is portraying a ‘safe image’ of the country to target itself as the next destination of the Indian students.

Rising statistics
Although, New Zealand had merely 500 Indian students five years ago, the figure has risen to 6,000 as per the latest statistical figures.

However, it is still far behind a whopping 95,000 strong community of Indian students in Australia.

New Zealand keen to welcome Indian students
According to Rupert Holborow, New Zealand High Commissioner to India, “India has become an important source for students in recent years.

"The New Zealand government very much welcomes this growing Indian student body.”

New Zealand is encashing the tarnished image of Australia after a series of racial attacks.

Reportedly, the government of New Zealand has given instructions to its trade and enterprises in India to project a safe image of the country.

Chief executive of education, New Zealand, Robert Stevens stated in June, “What we want to do is to remind education agents in India that New Zealand is a different country from Australia - in the nicest possible way.”
