Nagar Councils, Panchayats to go online
The Punjab government has taken a wise step to make the whole system electronic so as to minimise the chances of corruption by bringing transparency in the system.

Talking about the tenders, Kalia said that all tenders above Rs ten lakh can be filed online from the month of September and no tax will now be imposed on the people.
Further, he told the sources regarding the Solid Waste Treatment Plants in the state for which Local Bodies Department had made eight clusters, including Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda, Pathankot, Ferozepur and GMADA. The work on Solid Waste Management will start from December this year and will be completed by May 2011.
According to the decision taken by the minister, the local bodies department will soon be made online, and all Municipal Committees and Improvement Trusts will be interconnected on the web.
The performances of all Municipal Committees and Improvement Trusts can be monitored from state head quarters in Chandigarh.
Kalia also claimed that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-BJP government has initiated development works worth Rs 800 crore in a period of three and half years in the construction of colonies and encroachments of lands as compare to Rs 500 crore during the working of previous government.
