Canada, July 6: Youngsters and volunteers of Guru Gobind Singh Children’s Foundation (GGSCF) joined in the two-month relay run from St. John’s, Newfoundland up to Stanley Park, Vancouver.

According to Sandeep Dhillon, who has helped the media team of the foundation in planning Children’s Run across Canada, the event is a great achievement for the volunteers as well as the kids involved.

“I think it's a huge accomplishment for the kids and volunteers involved," stated Dhillon adding “it forces them to think beyond their own backyard.”

Aim of the foundation
The foundation was established way back in 1999 by a group of volunteers and youngsters to commemorate the 300th Khalsa Day celebrations.

The organization aims to help in providing sponsorship to the needy children throughout the world under the motto- “children helping children.”

Although, the foundation began sponsoring five kids in the beginning, the number of sponsored kids has risen to 200 at present.

The money for the foundation comes mainly from run-a-thons regularly which is used to sponsor the children.

Children's ardor
The children in the GGSCF are determined to plan a run across the country if they succeed in this run to Ottawa.

According to a GGSCF council member Renu Duggal, “Their determination and willpower is what got everyone motivated.

"It's great that these youth feel compassionate towards other children and want to help their fellow Canadians and children around the world.”
