Illegal immigration racket: Punjab youth dies in Turkey
The youth died at the Turkey-Greece border while two others have jailed. Three youth have gone missing since the incident has happened.
It's tragic that youth named Sukhwinder Singh's family, who lives in Jalandhar district of Punjab, are still unaware of this sad news.
While addressing the sources, Avtar Singh Mullanpuri, senior president Lok Bhalai Party (LBP) told that efforts are being made to trace the family of Sukhwinder to inform them about the tragedy.
Mullanpuri has been heading the campaign against the rampant illegal immigration racket in Punjab for the past few years.
Incident happened near border areas
Sukhwinder was shot dead by the border security guards in Turkey as he tried to escape the country for Greece. Other two members of the group, arrested by the Turkish border guards, have been imprisoned in Istanbul.
Six persons, four from Punjab and two from Haryana, had been sent by a travel agent from the Amritsar international airport, about 15 days ago. The travel agent assured them that they would be taken to Greece for work.
Mullanpuri stated, “We have written to the prime minister and the ministry of external affairs to talk to the Indian embassy officials in Turkey today, so that the body of the deceased youth is brought back. We have also sought help to get the jailed youths released and sent back."
"The embassy should seek help to trace the three missing youths as well,”he added.
Youths in jail
The other two members of the group that have been arrested are Sarabjeet from Ludhiana, and Balwinder Singh from Amritsar district.
Sarabjeet, jailed in Turkey, had called his father to inform about his arrest. After getting the news his father informed the LBP leader to take the immediate action.
