Hostage drama ends, cops return home
While sub-inspectors Abhay Prasad Yadav, Rupesh Kumar Sinha and Bihar Military police havaldar Ehshan Khan were released, ASI Lucas Tete’s body was found on Friday morning.
“All the three kidnapped policemen have been released by the Maoists after the police sealed their escape routes in the forests and hills,” Director General of Police Neelmani said.
Soon after their release, the three freed policemen were taken to the Lakhisarai police station, where a team of doctors examined them and declared that the cops were medically fit, hale and hearty.
Reports also claimed that IG K S Dwivedi and other senior police officials met the released policemen and asked them about details of their abduction.
RJD Chief Lalu Prasad said, "It seems that the Maoists released the hostages on humanitarian grounds. I don't know what the police and the state government did about it."
Ramvilas Paswan, chief of LJP, said that the government cannot take credit for the end of the crisis.
Extensive search operations had been launched by the Nitish Kumar government to find the cops, but they failed to find even a trace of them.
