Harmony March in Australia to express concern over recent attacks
Danby is in Dharamsala these days along with a six-member Australian parliamentarian delegation.
Danby said, “We are joining the premier of Victoria in a march to express the views of the overwhelming majority of Australians condemning these attacks.
"On July 12 something called the ‘Harmony March’ which will be taking place in Melbourne...will be a public expression of the vast majority of Australians...about these attacks on Indian students.”
While strongly condemning the recent attacks on students from India, Danby said the Australian government strongly condemns all such attacks.
“We want to react very strongly to these attacks on Indian students, because it is not the way of the Australians...it's not Australia, all and all.”
The six-member delegation, which reached Dharamsala on July 1, includes Australian Labour lawmakers Michael Danby, Melissa Parke, Independent Senator Nick Xenophon, Liberal lawmaker Peter Slipper and Greens Senators Sarah Hanson-Young and Scott Ludlam.
They also met the Tibetan leader in exile - Dalai Lama and will be in Dharamsala till Monday, July 6.
