Panchkula, December 30 -- The Haryana Police registered two fresh first information reports (FIRs) against former state police chief S.P.S. Rathore Wednesday for allegedly fixing false cases against Ruchika Girhotra’s brother, Ashu.

It is said that Rathore and few other officials tried to kill Ashu in order to modify Ruchika’s post-mortem report.

Committee to investigate charges on Rathore
A committee has been set up Wednesday to investigate the charges made against Rathore.

The committee will be headed by Inspector General of Police Shatrujit Kapoor and includes Panchkula district police chief, Maneesh Chaudhary.

“We have decided to register fresh cases, taking into consideration the seriousness of the case,” said Chaudhary.

All FIRs registered so far on Rathore have been done by Ruchika’s father, S.C. Girhotra.

Rathore used power to free himself
Rathore, who was convicted 19 years after the incident, was given a six-month sentence on Dec. 22 for molesting 14-year-old Ruchika in 1990. However, Rathore used his power and position to free himself.

Three years after Ruchika committed suicide, Rathore has been trying to suppress the case, calling it a lie.

Previous to her suicide, the former chief had even gone to the point of getting Ruchika expelled from her school, and falsely implicating Ruchika’s brother in 11 cases of car theft.

It is also reported that the former police chief got Ruchika’s post mortem report changed which later said that she died due to excessive consumption of slimming medicines.
