FIR against Continental Airlines for frisking Kalam
It reveals that despite being told by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel that Kalam is exempted from such security checks, the staff of Continental Airlines allegedly frisked Kalam while he was traveling from New Delhi to New York.
The airline has been booked by country’s nodal agency, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and a show-cause notice is served under the directions of union ministry of Civil Aviation.
“The frisking was absolutely wrong, as a former President is exempt from such an exercise…Even as the matter does not pertain to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, I will personally go and apologize to Dr. Kalam,” revealed Praful Patel, minister of Civil Aviation.
Describing the incident as a matter of serious concern, deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha, K Rahman Khan said, “I hope the government will take note of it and act accordingly.”
The incident took place on April 21 this year and is a violation of protocol norms by the American airlines.
