Hyderabad, July 2: As per the information made available from country’s intelligence sources, the west coast is under terror threat, revealed Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Addressing the media persons on the occasion of inauguration of the regional hub of the NSG (National Security Guard), Chidambaram stated, “There is an intelligence input indicating a terror threat to the west coast and, as per the practice in recent past, we have shared all inputs with Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra.”

Although, he made it clear that it is only a threat, which does not imply that there will be an attack on country’s west coast yet the information is meant to get prepared in case of any attack.

“These inputs are meant to prepare us in case the threat materializes. But, let me hasten to assure you that it does not mean there will be an imminent terror attack. Following the input, the western coastline had been put on alert, he added. Our first objective is to raise the level of preparedness to tackle any terror threat and the second one is to respond decisively in case of any terror attack,” Chidambaram asserted.

The minister said that the establishment of NSG will increase government’s flexibility in providing security to the nation.
