Ludhiana, May 9: In the wake of shortage of staff and to ensure better facilities for the railway passengers, the railway authorities have now outsourced the enquiry service to a call-centre.

According to the divisional commercial manager Parminder Singh, the railways had wrapped up the 131 enquiry system last week in various divisions and had received orders to discontinue the service in Ferozepur division, too.

The latest move of outsourcing is likely to solve the problem of severe staff crunch faced by the railways as it would enable to handle a number of enquiries at the same time.
