British Immigration Minister on a 3-day visit to India
The three day tour will focus on discussions about Britain’s immigration policy for Indian businesses and tackling of illegal immigration. He will also be addressing the educationists and senior business representatives to elaborately discuss the new policy.
Green emphasized that the new policy implies controlled immigration with faster and fairer system.
Details about the three day tour
In Delhi, Green will meet Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi, Minister of Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma, Minister of State at the Ministry of Home Affairs Mullapally Ramachandran and Preenet Kaur, minister of state at the external affairs ministry.
Green will also visit Chandigarh and meet Governor of Punjab Shivraj Patil, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Director General of Police, Punjab P S Gill, to acknowledge the Punjab government for its cooperation with Britain on immigration.
The British immigration minister will also address the press at the Taj Hotel on Aug. 24 in Chandigarh, regarding UK’s immigration policy.
Before his visit, Green said, "When Prime Minister David Cameron came to India at the end of last month; he came with a clear purpose - to take the UK-India relationship to a new level, to make it 'stronger, wider, and deeper’. This ambition was warmly welcomed by our Indian counterparts and friends.
"As Britain's Minister for Immigration, I recognize that I have a key role in taking this new enterprise forward. I look forward to using my visit to explain the changes under way in the UK's immigration system and the reasons for them.”
