'Bollywood meets Hollywood' for Punjab eye hospital

To raise funds for a new eye hospital in Punjab, Sankara Eye Foundation will be organizing a gala event in Washington, next Saturday.

Themed as 'Bollywood meets Hollywood', the event will showcase the various cultures of India, accompanied by dance, music and fashion show, to be held at a famous lounge in Washington called 'I, Indian Experience.'

Sankara Eye Foundation (SEF), a US registered non-profit organization that is planning to open another eye hospital in Punjab by the end of 2012, will sponsor one-third of the event, with a net budget of $4 million.

A SEF enthusiast and contributor Tejash Natali, along with Manan Singh Katohora, a South Asian filmmaker and events promoter are raising funds for the hospital through the musical event.

A creative live art developed by Drishty D'Costa, showing women from different countries applauding India as a diversified country, will be the main attraction of the event.

SEF supports the cause of making the country free of curable loss of sight blindness and raises money to maintain the eye care activities, including building of free and high-tech eye hospitals and conducting free eye surgeries.

It has executed more than 70,000 complimentary cataract surgeries per year, till now.
