Reportedly, the phone calls of Radia, who is known to work for Tata and Reliance, were being tapped for investigation purposes in the wake of the 2G spectrum allocation scandal that has been rocking the Parliament’s Winter Session and leading to repeated adjournments of the House.
Yesterday night, in a special show aired unedited on NDTV, senior journalist Manu Joseph, Editor of Open Magazine, and three other personalities questioned Barkha Dutt about the alleged telephone conversation in which she offered to speak to the ruling Congress party on part of Nira Radia.
The leaked telephone transcriptions were first published by Open Magazine and Barkha’s conversation has further fuelled the country’s biggest controversy.
Dutt apologizes
Barkha Dutt was quick to defend herself by saying that the quashing was part of a ‘personal smear campaign’ launched against her by her competitors.
But nonetheless, she apologized for ‘an error of judgment’ regarding the telephonic conversation.
Reactions on Twitter
Here are some of the top tweets that the users of Twitter posted on their walls following the telecast.
According to one of the users, “The only logical conclusion to this issue is Barkha Dutt & Manu Joseph on Kofee with Karan.”
“I have to say – masterful performance by NDTV. The 4 “interrogators” spoke for some 10 minutes. Barkha ate the rest for dinner,” read another post.
“Congratulations to NDTV and Barkha Dutt to have aired an unedited show where Barkha has taken questions from other Editors on Radia Tapes,” posted a user.
A user @surekhapillai’s tweet said, “Im going to be shot for saying this but i think she is doing a fine job.”
