Badal appeals people not to mislead by opposition

In a rally on the occasion of 71st martyrdom anniversary of great martyr Shaheed Udham Singh, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal told the public not to get influenced by the actions of Congress Party, which deliberately wants to take over the control of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

The rally was held at a local grain market in district Sangrur, where CM warned the Congress party to stop interfering in the religious matters and not to keep an eye over the forthcoming general elections of SGPC.

CM pays tribute to all freedom fighters
CM pays floral tributes to martyr and recalls the history and contribution of freedom fighters from Punjab, during the days of independence.

Badal highlighted the fact that despite of all contributions and struggle, Punjab was not given due recognition by the Central government.

He also mentioned the great contibution of the freedom fighters and patriots from the land of Punjab, who laid down their lives for the betterment of our countrymen.

Adding to his statement, Badal also asserted, "It is a sad plight that the aspirations of our freedom fighters had not yet been cherished because they dreamt of an Independent India free from the maladies of illiteracy, unemployment and starvation."

Important projects for the welfare of the State
While addressing the huge gathering, Badal said that he has taken up the issue to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in order to declare the channelization of River Ghaggar as a 'National Project' in the State which costs Rs 1,175 crore to save the people of Patiala, Sangrur and Mansa districts from the fury of floods.

He also mentioned that for the last three-and-half-years, the government has made spectacular achievements in the fields of education, power and infrastructure.

Besides, Rs 350 crore project to upgrade the health infrastructure in the state was also sanctioned by the government.

On the occasion, CM Badal announced that a suitable memorial would be constructed at Sunam in the memory of Shaheed Udham Singh.

He also announced a grant of Rs 6 crore for the completion of sewerage in the town.
