New Delhi, July 28: Bringing the issue of racial attacks on Indians again to the fore, an Indian female journalist in Australia has been attacked over the weekend.

In order to expose the migration scams in the education industry in Australia, this young journalist was working secretly for ABC channel.

According to the channel, the reporter was even threatened during the making of her show, “Four Corners”.

However, the channel did not reveal the identity of the journalist.

Mark Bannerman, supervising producer of "Four Corners" said, "This young woman was walking down the street when she was attacked from behind. She was hit hard by an elbow of a male assailant, she was hurt but she was much shaken.

"We immediately took her to the police to report the incident. She gave a statement and during the course of that also explained how she has been getting threats from undisclosed sources because of her work."

Authorities’ take
Condemning the assault, Australia’s deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard said, "Any attack like that which has been reported is cowardly and completely abhorrent.

"An attack seemingly on a journalist working for ABC News going about her work is particularly disturbing."

However, overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi told the reporters on Monday, "I am not sure that there was a racist agenda behind the attack.

"Nowhere has it been reported in such a way, but I know some anti social elements have attacked this Indian journalist."

Despite the assurances given by the Australian authorities, the attacks have continued on the Indians.

Prior to this incident, three Indian students were attacked in Australia about fifteen days ago.
