Melbourne, August 10: Australia is again in the spotlight for the same reason. Two more students from Punjab and Madhya Pradesh, Gaurav Kakkar and Mohit Mangal respectively, were assaulted by a group of men separately on Saturday night in Sydney.

Gaurav Kakkar, a student doing a hairdressing course, was talking to his family in Punjab from a local telephone booth when he was attacked by a group of men.

While Mohit Mangal was on his way to the shopping mall when four Australian youths smashed a beer bottle on his head and also attacked him with a baseball bat on his waist and legs.

Mohit, an engineering student, works as a mall supervisor in Sydney and is from Indore. His father Anil Mangal informed that Mohit has suffered waist and leg injuries but his condition is out of danger now.

He said, “My son had no enmity with anyone there and the incident, it appears, might be a continuation of ongoing racial attacks on Indian students in Australia.”

Despite many attempts made to curb this violence, Indian students have continued to bear the brunt of a few racist Australians.
