Meeting of Sikh priests at Akal Takht
The decision was taken in a meeting of high Sikh priests at the Akal Takht on Wednesday.

The Sikh priests who attended the meeting were, Giani Gurbachan Singh, jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Tarlochan Singh, jathedar of Takht Kesgarh Sahib and Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh, jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib.

During the meeting, the Sikh priests issued instructions to gurudwaras across the world to abide by the directions saying, “Gay marriages are not acceptable in Sikhism and have no place in Gurmat.

"The heads of other religions and faiths also have a similar opinion on gay relations.”

Agreeing with the jathedar of Akal Takht, head of Damdami Taksal, Harnam Singh Khalsa stated that an agitation is likely to oppose recent ruling on gay relations.

“Gay marriages are not acceptable and we strongly oppose it.

"We may even begin an agitation against such relations,”said Harnam Singh.
